Charlie Aquino Abalos
Before assuming the Presidency and COB, Brother Charlie served as the Vice President of JEG from 2015 to 2018. And before the incorporation of JEG, he served as Assistant Head Servant of Joshua Group from 2011 to 2015.
In the field of Evangelization, Bro Charlie served in various capacities: In the year 2006, due to the death of one of the trustees, Koinonia Foundation, Inc. (KFI) was permanently closed. Bro Charlie and wife Connie together with Bro Conrad & Sis Bing Felix and two other couples established the KFI-M.E. Ministry, Inc., and eventually was incorporated and registered in the State of New York wherein the four couples mentioned were the Incorporators and at the same time they were the first Board of Directors. Bro Charlie then became the Founding and First President of the KFI-M.E. Ministry, Inc. serving from 2007 to 2013.
He remains in the ministry as member of the Council of Elders. To look back, Bro Charlie became active in the charismatic renewal after his baptism in the Spirit, way back in 1976 in the Philippines. When he migrated to the U.S., he and family joined the Holy Family Prayer Group-Woodbridge. Prior to assuming the presidency of KFI-M.E. Ministry, Bro Charlie and Sis Connie worked in God’s vineyard through the Koinonia Foundation. They served as members of ME Board-I and ME Board-II. Also, they served as Presenting and Shepherd couple at the ME weekends and Deepening reunions. In the field of Conventions, Marian Affairs and Pilgrimages: In August of 2002, Bro Charlie served as the Over-all Coordinator of then Asian-American Charismatic Crusade, sponsored by the Koinonia Foundation, Inc. After then Bro Charlie was appointed as the KFI Dir. for Conventions. Before moving to Florida, Bro Conrad endorsed Bro Charlie to Eddie Caparas, (BNA Chairman & President) to be the official contact person of BNA-KFI communications. Since then, Bro Charlie continued in active capacity coordinating all the activities related to the KFI delegations to the Annual National Filipino Pilgrimage to our Birhen ng Antipolo (BNA) at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC up to the present time. In 2015, after the death of Bro Conrad, the BNA USA appointed Bro Charlie as BNA Special Liaison & Area Coordinator for East Coast in place of Bro Conrad. Bro Charlie was also involved in the LSS Ministry, helping out in conducting workshops, and serving as organizational coordinator and sometimes speaker during LSS. After his early retirement in 2013, he spent most of his time assisting and accompanying Bro Conrad going around to prayer groups and conducting LSS through out the tri-state and sometimes in Florida. Bro Charlie did not limit his involvement in the field of Evangelization only to KFI, but he was also involved in the Archdiocesan level: *In 2011 to present – member, planning committee CCR Archdiocese of Newark. In 2011 to present – member, Filipino Pastoral Team, under the CCR Liaison, Archdiocese of Newark. Presently, serving as Asst. Head Coordinator. *In 2012, he was invited to be a member of the NJ Catholic Charismatic Conference committee. Since then he has been a member to 2016. During conferences, he served as coordinator of various committees utilizing the participation of KFI members. The greatest accomplishment of Bro Charlie as a committee member was in 2014, when he was given the privilege to recommend a Filipino speaker, and that was Brother Conrad Felix. Bro Conrad was so happy to have been given that opportunity to be at Center-stage as Speaker. The following year, August-2015, Bro Charlie was also asked to be conference speaker. Bro. Conrad in spite of his health condition (he was suffering from lungs cancer), he still attended the conference. Others: Alumnus of Notre Dame University, Philippines, graduated with a degree of BSC major in Accounting. Worked with Ferrero USA, Inc. for 20 years as Accountant and as Treasury Supervisor. A life member of Alpha Phi Omega International (Phils.) Service Fraternity. He was National Officer with the position of Regional Development Director for Region-13 from 1983 to 1985. Presently, he is a member of “APO Alumni Association of Greater New York (APOAAGNY).”
